Recently, Barbie Xu, accepted the award for Best Film Actress for Taiwan due to her role in “Forbidden City Cop” (On His Majesty’s Secret Agent) during The Channel V’s 14th Chinese Music Awards and Asian Influence Award held in Chengdu, China. The awards night was attended with huge stars in Chinese music and the entertainment industry. Days before that, Barbie Xu posed before her wax piece at Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum. The wax figure is the character she portrays in her Future X Cops movie directed by the renowned Wong Jing and Tony Ching Siu Tong, also featuring cast members Andy Lau, Fan Bing Bing, Mike Hoand Xu Jiao. What was interesting about Barbie Xu is her involvement in the campaign against cruelty of animals. She starred in a new pro-vegetarian ad for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) Asia. For some reasons, she would support all movements that protected animals from different forms of cruelty. In her own words:

"Animals are like my brothers and sisters, my friends and my family“, says the actor and singer, who was voted Asia’s Sexiest Vegetarian woman in PETA’s 2009 poll. “I love all animals. That’s why I won’t eat them. On factory farms, animals have their teeth, tails, and testicles cut off—all without painkillers. They are kept in crowded, filthy enclosures and are denied everything that is natural and important to them. At slaughterhouses, animals are routinely hung upside down before their throats are cut, and they are often skinned and scalded to death while still conscious."
